Fujifilm X-T40/X-T30III: A Chance to Revive Fujifilm’s Best LCD Screen Mechanism?

Fujifilm once had a brilliant idea: put a smart LCD screen mechanism into this Fujifilm camera.

But despite being quite brilliant, Fujifilm used that screen only once on this underrated camera and never again.

Is there any hope for a revival?

Well, so far I have no info about a return of that screen, but I would certainly hope that the Fujifilm X-T40 or X-T30III will feature that screen again. Even though my best guess is that it will use the same body of either the X-T30II or X-T50.

The unique tilt/flip screen was first incorporated on the Fujifilm X-T100. It worked similar – but not identical – to the one of the Sony A7rV.

And there is actually one more cool thing I’d like back from the X-T100/X-T200 series, and I wrote about it here.

Fujifilm X-T30 III or X-T40 Coming in 2025 – Let the Specs Speculation Begin

We told you that in 2025 Fujifilm will launch the successor to the Fujifilm X-T30II (which is not the Fujifilm X-T50).

Now all we can do is to speculate about the specs.

If I should bet (this is a speculation, not a rumor), then I’d say that Fujifilm could put the trusted 26MP sensor in the Fujifilm X-T30II successor, maybe in combination with the X Processor 5, just like it is for the Fujifilm X-S20.

Maybe to make it even more affordable, they could give it to us without IBIS using the same body of the X-T30II. But again, that’s just my guess. It could be also the X-T50 body with 26MP sensor. It depends on which price Fujifilm is targeting with the X-T30 II successor.

I’d prefer the X-T50 body over the X-T30II body, not only because of IBIS, but also because I prefer the film simulation dial over the drive dial. And overall I find it more refined and better looking. But let us know in the comments what you prefer.

The name?

Well, I guess it will be called Fujifilm X-T30 III or Fujifilm X-T40.

So, I’ll end my speculations here. But I’d love to read yours in the comments below.

→ in short: it’s the successor of this camera here
… and I know you won’t believe me because this camera exists already… but it will come anyway ;)

Today we can unveil to you about an unexpected camera that Fujifilm will launch in 2025.

And we will can tell you that thanks to a source who uses a nickname of a character from a movie franchise (and book I read and loved – THANKS) and also thanks to another source, who dropped us the same hint a long while ago (THANKS to you too).

ATTENTION: I know I will get a lot of fake-rumor-clickbait accusations for this rumor. But all I can say for now is that this rumor is 100% accurate. If wrong, FujiRumors will shut down operations and hide forever. ;)

With all that said, are you ready for the truth?

Well, in addition to the Fujifilm GFX100RF, Fujifilm GFX Eterna, Fujifilm X-E5 and Fujifilm X-Half, in 2025 Fujifilm will also launch…

Fujinon XF 16-200 vs XF 18-135 Size Comparison and Thoughts

We recently took a look at the 8 remaining lenses Fujifilm has “under consideration” for future release.

And since I love this lens here, I picked as my favorite future lens the Fujinon XF16-200mm superzoom.

Now, I know it would make me look more “Pro” if I’d advocate for red-badge fast lenses.

But hey, if Melinda Sue Gordon shoots the official backstage images of the Dunkirk blockbuster with the XF18-135mm lenswe reported here – then I guess the lens is plenty of good enough also for my much more humble needs.

With that said, I decided to take a closer look at the potential XF16-200mm, based on specs given to us by Fujifilm (and turned into the above silhouette by FR-reader Hiergeist), to see if the XF16-200mm could really be a potential replacement for the XF18-135mm.

  • Fujinon XF 16-200mm
    – length 120-140mm
    – diameter 70-80
    – weight 600-800g
  • Fujinon XF 18-135mm
    – length 97.8mm at minium extension and 156mm at maximum extension
    – diameter 75.7
    – weight 490g

We can see: especially on the shorter side of the range given to us by Fujifilm, the XF16-200 would be quite close in size to the current XF18-135mm (just about 22mm longer and 110g heavier).

If Fujifilm would launch the Fujinon XF16-200mm, then I would surely buy it to replace the XF18-135mm.

In fact, after I bought the XF18-135mm I sold both my XF18-55mm and XF55-200mm. But having again the option to go all the way at 200mm and also to go wider at 16mm would be very welcome, especially if the overall size and weight increase are contained as suggested by the specs shared by Fujifilm.

So, I stand by my wish: if I have to pick one, I would like the Fujinon XF 16-200mm.

But again, feel free to drop your wish and vote here.
